The Park
Reverchon Park was founded in 1915 on "Woodchuck Hill," straddling Turtle Creek. First named Turtle Creek Park, it was renamed Reverchon Park after Julien Reverchon (1837–1905) . A well-known botanist and a member of La Reunion Utopian Community, Reverchon had collected more than 2,600 species and 20,000 specimens of Texas plants prior to his death in 1905.
When city maintenance funds dry up in the 80s & 90s visitors turn away, the park becomes a haven for crime. So in 1998 Dallas area citizens mobilized and 400 volunteers descend on Reverchon to take the park back from criminals and other unsavory characters and participate in the first cleanup, later named The Reverchon Roundup.
In 2005 the Friends of Reverchon Park is established, and the group drafts a master plan for the park and to partner with Texas Scottish Rite Hospital to own and continue the Reverchon Roundup!
Let's keep the Park for the Citizens of Dallas!
